ELS Spotlight With Marie Holland

Marie Holland is a Business Development Officer/Community Banker for First Security Bank in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

As a Business Development Officer/Community Banker, I spend a lot of time nurturing relationships with clients and prospective clients of First Security Bank. I enjoy getting to see businesses and individuals succeed, whether it be dreams of owning a business or purchasing a new home, the feeling of success for these individuals never gets old! One of my favorite parts of my job is getting the chance to help nonprofit organizations in the River Valley. I have a passion for helping the groups that improve our community and make it a better place to live, work and play!

The efforts of our team have shown major growth here in Fort Smith in a short amount of time. We are working on finalizing our second location. This new branch will be a jump in the right direction for our community driven bank.

What is the most effective daily habit you possess?

Coffee may be my most effective daily habit! But really, drinking my morning cup of coffee helps me mentally prepare for my day. Having a plan gives me a sense of clarity, but also realizing things can change at any given moment.

What is the greatest advice you have ever been given?

Be empathic towards others. You never know what someone is going through. Everyone has struggles, they just might not show it or be willing to share.

What does effective leadership look like to you?

Participating as a team! Being willing to roll up your sleeves and help when someone is struggling goes a long way.

How has leadership changed in 2021?

If 2020 taught us anything, it is that things can change in an instant. Being flexible to another person’s needs is more understood than ever.

The ELS Spotlight is an ongoing series to highlight our Emerging Leaders from around Arkansas.
