Jeremy Orman is the Vice President at Peoples Bank in Sheridan, Arkansas

My job responsibilities include: Loan Officer (Consumer, Commercial, Construction), Business Development, Branch Oversight of Little Rock location, recent PPP lender….Community Banker; a little bit of everything.

What is the most important leadership lesson that you’ve learned?

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast”- Peter Drucker. While strategy, profitability, and efficiency are very important to any organization; the organizations that will typically have the surer route of long-lived success will hire great people and create a great culture.

What does effective leadership look like to you?

I had a mentor explain to me that being a leader is not about what one can do for themselves, but rather what one can do for others. There are people with exceptional charisma that can grasp the attention of a room, but a servant minded leader is somewhat magnetic. A servant-leader will draw people in and then bring others alongside them in order to make those around them more successful.

How has leadership changed in 2020?

Communication! The many changes that have taken place, sometimes at a rapid pace, in 2020 have required constant communication to keep our banking family informed and connected.

The ELS Spotlight is an ongoing series to highlight our Emerging Leaders from around Arkansas.
