Credit Score Modernization – Description and Update
FHFA announced that it will upgrade and modernize credit score models used for loans sold to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The GSEs will transition from “tri-merge” to “bi-merge” requirements, and scores will be based on FICO 10 T and VantageScore 4.0. These changes will impact underwriting policies, pricing grids, risk management compliance, and will likely require historical back testing, fair lending analysis, among other things.
